9. Sroda Treasure
In Środa Śląska, Poland, in 1985, workers demolishing an old building discovered a vase filled with around 3,000 14th-century silver coins. They found more silver coins in the building next door, along with gold Florentine florin coins.
8. A Missing Masterpiece
For years, a 10-by-8-inch (25.4x20.3 cm) painting hung in the kitchen of a woman in Compiegne, France, who was completely unaware of its monetary and historical value. Sometimes, it happens! The older woman had kept it because she thought it was a lovely painting of a Greek religious icon.
7. Vince Lombardi’s Sweater
In 2014, Sean and Rikki McEvoy of Knoxville, Tennessee, purchased a West Point sweater at Goodwill for 58 cents. Found in Asheville, North Carolina, they noticed one greatly overlooked detail handwritten on the tag: the name “Lombardi.” Vince Lombardi, a Hall of Fame Greenbay Packers coach, owned the sweater when he coached at West Point between 1949 and 1953.
6. Treasure on the floor?
Back in 2015, a viral story circulated about a Phoenix, Arizona couple known only as Eddie and Angie discovering an old safe when doing some home renovations. Found under their kitchen floor, the safe contained $51,080 cash and a bottle of James E. Pepper brand bourbon.

When a Ballycastle, Ireland resident lost his wedding ring in a field during October of last year, he called up two friends with metal detectors!
Those are good friends to have!! Paul Raynard and Michael Gwynne were vacationing in Northern Ireland at the time, so they went out to help their friend find it.
4. Legendary Manuscript
People find lots of cool things in their attics, including old and antique items that belonged to previous homeowners or past generations of a family. Still, it’s rare for someone to find something that’s worth a fortune.
3. Henry VII’s Bed
Several years ago, amid renovations at the Redland House Hotel in Chester, England, workers discarded an ornately carved oak bed frame in a parking lot. The four-post bed, which was retired after spending 15 years in the hotel’s honeymoon suite, captured the eye of an antique dealer, who saved it from the trash.
2. Rediscovered Modern Masterpieces
Several Nigerian painter Ben Enwonwu’s masterpieces that went missing have reappeared in recent years. Enwonwu created three versions of his famed 1974 portrait of an Ife princess named Adetutu Adem-ilu-yi, or “Tutu” for short, and all three disappeared. In 2017, an ordinary north London family asked Giles Peppiatt, the director of modern African art at Bonhams, to authenticate a painting they believed was an authentic “Tutu.”
